Space Architect
I'm Praneeth Aashwinay, an innovative architect from India with a penchant for exploring new realms of architecture and making concrete plans for out-of-this-world projects (pun intended). I hold a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from SJB School of Architecture and Planning, Bengaluru, and a Master's degree in Advanced Architecture from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), Barcelona.
My journey into the world of architecture has been driven by curiosity and a desire to push the boundaries of conventional design—because who needs to stick to the norm when you can dream of building on Mars and the Moon? In 2018, I participated in the Marsception competition organized by Volume Zero, securing a place in the top 50. This achievement was like rocket fuel for my enthusiasm, leading to my participation in the Moon Base 2124 competition by uni.xyz and a return to Marsception in 2024, where I once again landed in the top 50.
For my Master's thesis, titled "Chan-ka: Chandra Kavach (Moonshield)," I focused on designing a sustainable habitat for the Moon. This project featured an in-situ manufactured shell, capable of being disassembled and reassembled in case of damage—because even on the Moon, you need a plan B.
As an architect driven by innovation and a love for thinking outside the (lunar) box, I continue to contribute to the future of architecture, combining advanced technology with creative solutions to tackle the challenges of space habitation. After all, why settle for earthly architecture when you can aim for the stars?
